Abstract: A colourless amorphous solid was obtained by silica gel column chromatography, sephadex LH-20 and PHPLC from the rhizomes of Sparganium stoloniferum. The results of spectroscopic analysis showed that the sample was the mixture of two cis-trans isomers: β-D-(1-O-acetyl-3-O-cis-feruloyl)fructofuranosyl α-D-2',4',6'-O-triacetylglucopyranoside (1) and β-D-(1-O-acetyl-3-O-trans-feruloyl)fructofuranosyl α-D-2', 4', 6'-O-triacetylglucopyranoside (2) at the ratio of 1:4. In addition, one phenylpropanoid glycerol, i.e. 1-O-feruloyl-3-O-p-coumaroylglycerol (3) was also isolated from this plant. Among them, compound 1 is a new sucrose esters.
