Progress on the Heterogeneous Cellulose Grafting Polymerization by ATRP

Abstract: This paper summarized the developments of cellulose-based functional materials produced by heterogeneous ATRP in the last ten years. The ATRP synthetic processes of various cellulose-based materials, e.g., cellulose surfaces with antibacterial, superhydrophobic or intelligent dual-responsive properties, materials possessing well biological compatibility,cellulose-based adsorbents and biocomposite reinforcements, were described. The functions and potential applications of these unique graft copolymers were introduced as well. Furthermore, this review also discussed the problems and forcasted the future of heterogeneous cellulose grafting polymerization by ATRP.
