Abstract: In the preparation of xylo-oligosaccharide by enzymatic hydrolysis of xylan, effects of xylanase and cellulase were compared, the effect of agitation rate and time dependence were studied in 10-litter tank. Results showed that the optimum hydrolytic conditions were:xylan concentration 30 g/L,xylanase loading 1%(volume ratio)and agitation rate 180 r/min,under which yields of xylo-oligosaccharide and total sugar after 2 hours were 35.2% and 41.9% respectively, and oligomeric xylan of DP 2-5 constituted 25.9% of solid in the substrate product.

Key words: xylo-oligosaccharide, enzymatic hydrolysis, xylanase
