Abstract: Extraction and separation of oligomeric proanthocyanidins(OPC) from larch bark and quantitative determination of OPC has been carried out. Results of orthogonal test indicated the optimum extraction condition of OPC as follows:ratio of liquor to material 10:1,reflux extraction at 85℃ for 2 h with water. After ethanol precipitation,OPC was separated by ethyl acetate-ligroin system.Content of OPC was determined by normal butyl alcohol-hydrochloric acid method at 546 nm to be over 90%.

Key words: oligomeric proanthocyanidins, larch, orthogonal experiment, ethanol precipitation
