    STUDY ON AMINO POLYESTER BAKING VARNISH MODIFIED BY ROSIN AND TUNG OIL

    A series of amino polyester baking varnishes modified by tung oil and rosin were made from polyhydroxyl esters, which were synthesized from methyl α-eleostearate maleic anhydride adduct and maleopimaric acid crosslinked by hexamethoxy methylmelamine. Effects of the ratio of components and the curing condition on their properties were discussed. By performance testing, it has been confirmed that these varnishes possessed good properties and could be used as amino coatings.

    Membrane-assisted electrolysis (MAE) is one of the feasible method to treat straw pulping black liquor. Result showed that organic substances in black liquor were oxidized by MAE through opening the aromatic rings of lignin.

    In this study,carboxylic wood powder,a cationic exchanging resin,was prepared from hydrolysis of the grafted copolymer(PANW),which was prepared by reacting acrylonitrile with wood powder.Experiments on graft copolymerization and acid/alkaline hydrolysis of PANW were carried out to study the effects of dosage,temperature and time on the yield and properties of the products. Results show that acid value of carboxylic wood powder from alkaline hydrolysis is higher,but its yield is lower than that from acid hydrolysis. The adsorption capacity of carboxylic wood powder for basic pink dye increased with increase of the initial concentration of the adsorbate,and could be kept over 500mg/g after repeated use and regeneration for 4 times.

    Urethane adduct was synthesized from decarboxylated cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL),hexamethylenediisocynate(HDI) and polyethylglycol(PEG),which was then reacted with melamineformaldehyde resin to form aqueous coating material.The optimized formulation was obtained and the performance of the coating is: hardness 0.56;impact strength 50 kg·cm;adhesion strength level 2;flexibility 2 mm,resistant to boiling water. This study provides a new way to comprehensive utilization of CNSL.

    Sodium borohydride,sodium bisulfite and their mixture were used to treat the poplar APMP bleached pulps.The treatment conditions for pulps by NaBH4/NaHSO3 mixture were optimised.The results show that poplar APMP pulp treated by sodium borohydride could be brightened and stabilized significantly.Charge of sodium borohydride could be decreased by mixing sodium bisulfite to obtain similar stabilizing effect.Poplar APMP pulps seems to have its specific characteristic of light induced yellowing. IR-FT spectrum suggested that carbonyl and phenolic groups mainly contribute to the light-induced yellowing of poplar APMP.

    Water-soluble alkyd resin was synthesized from oleic acid as fatty acid,maleopimaric acid imide,dimaleopimaric acid imide,glycerol as raw materials.Effects of oleic acid dosage,ratio of polyols acid,kinds of polyacid on properties of product were discussed.It possesses good thermostability according to thermal analysis.

    The effluent characteristics were investigated in a large modern paper mill,and technical parameters of the treatment system were optimized.Through the physical chemical and biological treatment system,COD and SS of the discharged effluent were kept below 100 mg/L,which reached the paper industry discharge standard, GWPB 2-1999.

    Alkylation of wheat straw alkaline lignin was conducted by reacting lignin with different alkyl halides.Solubility and surface activity of lignin were improved after alkylation. Effect of alkylating reagents,reaction time, temperature and pH value on alkylation was investigated in detail. Surface activity of alkaline lignin was improved by alkylation with dodecyl bromide at 170 ℃,3 h.Further improvement in surface activity was achieved by sulfonation of the alkylated soda lignin at 130 ℃,pH 14.

    Method on extraction and purification of tea saponin by using anhydrous alcohol as solvent and cholesterol as purifying agent was reported. Tea seed powder was treated with acetone to remove tea oil followed by extracting tea saponin with alcohol. The crude product was purified by Soxhlet extraction with cholesterol (cholesterol tea saponin 0.75:1) to obtain tea saponin of over 98.5% purity.

    Comparative experiments have been carried out by staining low-grade wood veneers with acid color.The results show that hardwoods such as alder,poplar and birch,possess good stainability.Influence factors on staining process have been investigated.The best staining effect could be obtained at 70~80 ℃,pH 4 and 1.5% homogeneous staining agent.

    Unsaponifiable matter in chlorophyll carotene paste from needles and twigs of Picea schrenkiana consists of sesquiterpenoids, diterpenoids, triterpenoids, steroids, fatty alcohols and tocopherol etc.Result of analysis shows that unsaponifiable matter accounts for 32.0% of the paste from Picea schrenkiana Fisch.et Mey.needles and twigs.Thirty-seven separated components were identified,which make up 93.26% of the unsaponifiable matter,with dehydroabietol (10.24%),patchouli alcohol(8.64%),guaiol (6.89%),β-sitosterol(6.26%), and campesterol (5.98%)etc.as main components.The research shows that unsaponifiable matter in chlorophyll carotene paste from needles and twigs of schrenk spruce consists of large amount of β-sitosterol and campesterol.

    STUDY ON EXTRACTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF RED PIGMENT FROM BOMBAX MALABARICUM

    Physico chemical properties and extraction conditions of the red pigment in flowers of Bombax malabaricum were investigated. Results showed that good yield of pigment could be obtained by acid extraction, such as 0.1 mol/L HCl 50% C2H5OH(1:1)at 60℃ for 2h.The B. malabaricum red pigment is classified to anthocyanins, for which pH had significant effect on the tone of pigment. The pigment is stable to heat under acid condition. Under sunlight, degradation of the pigment could be accelerated, but regardless of ultraviolet light. Metallic ions Na+,Mg2+,Ca2+,Al3+,Cu2+,Pb2+ and Zn2+ had no effect on the tone of pigment, but Fe3+ and Sn2+ had severe disadvantageous effect. This kind of pigment possesses poor anti-oxidation ability. Addition of glucose, sucrose had no effect on the pigment.

    Cathodic electrodeposition paint (CEP) was synthesized with amino epoxy resin, and the properties of the paint film was investigated. The results showed that properties of the paint film varied with various catalytic curing agent under the condition of electrodeposition for 2 min at pH 6~7. By comparing properties of the paint film, the superior paint film was obtained from the cathodic electrodeposition coating materials by mixing cobalt and lead salts as catalytic curing agent under the condition of oven-curing for 20 min at 160℃ to form completely cured film of high hardness with good resistances against water, acid, alkali and salt.

    A preliminary study on extraction, separation and identification of chemical constituents in roots and seeds of Pueraria wallchii DC.was carried out. Five chemical compounds were obtained and preliminarily identified as the flavones: daidzein (A), daidzin(B), puerarin(C)and the steroids: stigmasterol (D) and β sitosterol (E). These provide scientific basis for the exploitation and utilization of P. wallchii DC.

    Synthesis of TEG-99 epoxy resin from turpentine is performed. Curing reactions of TEG-99 epoxy resin with amine, polyamide and anhydride and properties of the cured products are investigated. Results show that the synthesis is simple and reliable. The curing process and properties of the cured products of TEG 99 epoxy resin are similar to those of the E-44 epoxy resin.

    SYNTHESIS AND SURFACTANT PROPERTIES OF ROSINOYL GLUTAMIC ACID

    Rosinoyl chloride was prepared from rosin acid and PCl3 at yield over 84%. Rosinoyl glutamic acid was synthesized by condensation of rosinoyl chloride with glutamic acid in 50%aqueous acetone. Orthogonal experiment result shows that the optimum synthetic conditions were as follows: molar ratio of rosinoyl chloride to glutamic acid 1:0.8,reaction time 2.5 h,reaction temperature 25~30℃,pH 7~8, yield 84%. Surfactant properties of sodium rosinoyl glutamate were also determined.
