    ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF ALKYLPHENOLS FROM GINKGO BILOBA LEAVES

    A method for the extraction and isolation of alkylphenols in Ginkgo biloba leaves was introduced.Through silica gel column separation,TLC and HPLC preparations,six monomers were acquired.By UV,IR,MS, 1H NMR and 13C NMR,the structures of these compounds were determined,and were confirmed by comparison with literature.The structures of these compounds were identifited as:3-(8-pentadecenyl)phenol,3-[-4(Z),7(Z) heptadecadienyl]phenol,3-(10-heptadecenyl)phenol,6-(8-pentadecenyl)salicylic acid,6-(10-heptadecenyl)salicylic acid and 5-(8-pentadecenyl)resorcinol.The position of the double bonds in compound 3-[4(Z),7(Z) heptadecadienyl]phenol was determined from the GC MS spectrum of its oxide and methylated products.

    BIODEGRADATION KINETICS OF VALONIA TANNIN

    Kinetic characteristics of valonia tannin biodegradation using natural microorganism groups were studied.Kinetic equation followed by biodegradation process of valonia tannin was obtained.It was found that temperature is the key factor influencing degradation rate of valonia tannin;rise of temperature within 10-35℃ range leads to increase of biodegradation rate,whilst the lag phase of degradation is shortened.Optimal temperature for degradation is 28-32℃.The effect of tannin concentration on the lag phase of biodegradation is significant at lower temperature,but negligible at temperature higher than 28℃.

    An attempt was practised to gain activated carbon of high specific surface area.The bamboo char was activated in an inert environment with excessive potassium hydroxide under different activation conditions.The effects of carbonization temperature,activation temperature,ratio between potassium hydroxide and bamboo char on the yield and adsorption properties of the resultant activated carbon were investigated.The micropore structure and pore size distribution of the resultant activated carbon were also studied.The activated carbon,made under the conditions of carbonization temperature 700℃,activation temperature 900℃,ratio of potassium hydroxide to the bamboo char 4,activation time 1 h,possesses high specific surface area 2 610 m2/g,and high iodine and methylene blue adsorption value,2 300 mg/g and 570 mg/g,respectively,which are 2-3 times as much as those of ordinary ones.

    Polyester polyols and polyurethane baking varnishes modified by turpentine were made from condensation reaction and crosslinking.Effects of the ratio of components and the reaction temperature on their properties were discussed.The IR spectra were also studied.By performance testing,it has been confirmed that the varnish possessed good properties and could be used as polyurethane coatings.

    Biomass gasification technolgy was studied in an up draft gasifier under oxygen enriched air. The effects of catalysts,such as Na2CO3,CaO,on gas heat value and tar cracking were investigated.From the experimental data the optimal technology parameters are follows:gasifying temperature 700-800℃,feeding rate 140-160 kg/h and gas output 200-220 Nm3/h.The use of catalysts and oxygen enriched air in the experiment can increase gas heat value and reduce tar in the gas remarkably. The biomass gasification technology with oxygen enriched air is feasible and economical. The maximum heat value of gas produced by sawdust is as high as 9.93 MJ/Nm3.

    Main factors influencing the extraction of chlorogenic acid from the leaves of Eucommia ulmoides were studied by single factor and orthogonal experiments as well as multiple analysis.Optimized conditions for the extraction of chlorogenic acid were obtained:the whole leaves(unsmashed)were extracted by 40% ethanol at 80℃ for 2 h with a ratio (material to solvent) of 1:16.

    The residue of enzymatic hydrolysis was used as carbon source to obtain poor cellulase(0.106 IU/mL)xylanases(154.67 IU/mL)by Trichoderma reesei Rut C-30,and ratio of xylanase to cellulase activity was 1 459.Compared to coarse xylan,using the residue of enzymatic hydrolysis as carbon source,the obtained xylanase activity could be increased by 67%,while cellulase activity was not increased.When using the xylanases to hydrolyze coarse xylan and the residue of enzymatic hydrolysis at 50℃,hydrolysis efficiency was highest at pH 5.0.The hydrolysis product was mainly xylose,as shown by HPLC analysis.The main component of the xylanases was exo-β-xylosidase.

    A novel compound, 7-isopropyl-1-methoxymethyl-4-methylazulene (1)was easily synthesized by direct etherification of 7-isopropyl-4-methyl-1-azulenemethanol(2)with methanol. The reaction occurred in several minutes in an ethereal solution at 0~5℃(ice water bath)catalyzed with sulfuric acid. There are some by products including a dimmer 5 and small amount of oligomers. The structures of 1 and 5 were elucidated from their spectroscopic data (1H NMR,FTIR,UV-vis and HR-MS).

    Softwood pulp was used to make overlay paper for determining the effects of beating degree and drying condition on water receptivity and wet tensile strength. The result showed that wet tensile strength of overlay paper was not much high when the polyamine epichlorohydrin resin(PAE) alone was added to the pulp.Addition of 1.3% anion material and 1.5% PAE can increase the wet tensile strength of overlay paper obviously. The water receptivity of overlay paper can be increased distinctly by controlling the beating degree and vacuum degree in the sheet former. Optimal beating degree is 32~34°SR and vacuum degree is below 10 kPa.

    This paper discussed the change of molecular weight,content of acid soluble lignin,content of phenolic-OH,-COOH and -OCH3,surface activity of the oxidative degradation products obtained from wheat straw alkaline lignin under different oxidization conditions.It indicated that when alkaline dosage is high,for example,60% and 30%,the molecular weight polydispersities of oxidized lignin are low.The content of component with molecular weight higher than 10 000 decreases after the addition of H2O2.However,when alkaline dosage is low,for example,10% and 5% the polydispersities are high.It indicated that alkalinity has a great influence on lignin oxidation when O2/H2O2 is used as oxidizing agents.As to acid soluble lignin content,the same rule plays,oxidative degradation of lignin results in increase of phenolic hydroxyl,and decrease of carboxyl and methoxyl contents.The surface tensions of oxidized lignin solution decrease very much at high alkaline dosage(60%,30%),and decreases further after addition of H2O2.Under condition of alkaline dosage 60%,H2O2 dosage 10%,the surface tension of 4% oxidized lignin solution decerases from the original 46.8 mN/m to 38.8 mN/m.

    Delignification of wheat straw kraft pulp with laccase mediator system(LMS) and the affecting factors including reaction time, temperature, dosage of laccase mediator on delignification were studied in this paper. The results indicate that in all of these factors, reaction time is of primary importance followed by temperature and dosage. By using LMS, Kappa number of wheat straw kraft pulp can be reduced seriously but reduction of viscosity is lower. The optimum conditions for the delignification of wheat straw kraft pulp with LMS are:reaction time 30 min, temperature 70℃ and dosage 0.07%. Under these conditions,30% delignification ratio can be obtained and the reduction of viscosity is only 15.3%.

    Polymeric anise oil resin(PAOR)was synthesized with anise oil under the condition of AlCl3 as catalyst,ethyl acetate as solvent,stirring reaction for 4 h at room temperature.The average molecular weight of PAOR was measured.Its structure was analyzed by IR and UV,and its application on the adsorption of the orange peel pigment was studied.Experimental results showed that the average molecular weight of PAOR was 1.02×103.IR of PAOR was distiquished from standard IR of anise oil by that PAOR absorption peak(965 cm-1)became much weak,three new peaks appeared from 800 to 700 cm-1.UV absorption peak of PAOR with a hypsochromic shift of 11 nm by comparison with anise oil showed the CC bond of anise oil joined in polymerization.The use of PAOR to adsorb orange peel pigment was also studied by column chromatography.The column was then washed with H2O to remove the impurity,followed with 95% C2H5OH to wash off the orange peel pigment.PAOR had good adsorption to the pigment,and could be used several times.The adsorption ability was kept 75% after using six times.
