Abstract: Series terpene-resin emulsions were prepared using polymeric surfactants designed for the emulsions. The results showed that hydrophile-lypophile balance(HLB) values could be used as the design basis to determine monomer ratios in the polymeric surfactants,HLB value of terpene-resins in this study was 13.Solvent was used to decrease melting temperature and time of the resin during emulsification. The structures and amounts of the polymeric surfactants influenced greatly the emulsification results. The polymeric surfactant with mass ratio of styrene, acrylamide and monomer 3 at mass ratio 1:0.6:0.2 was a good emulsifier for the terpene resins(T-90,T-100,T-110).The amount of the surfactant used in the emulsification was 10%.
