Abstract: Pharmacology of polyprenols from Ginkgo biloba L.leaves(GP) in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs on tumor was studied.Polyprenols separated and purified from G.biloba L.leaves were administered in combination with adriamycin(ADM), 5-flauouracil(5-Fu), cyclophosphamide(CTX) and cisplatin(PDD) respectively, in contrasting with ADM, 5-Fu, CTX and PDD alone.Experiments were carried out on mouse with transplanted S180.Results show that for polyprenols in combination with CTX, PDD and 5-Fu, the inhibition of S180 nodule was raised from 59.81%, 43.06% and 42.03% to 70.56%, 60.29% and 63.45% respectively, in contrasting with their administration alone. For ADM in combination with polyprenols, 1.0 mg/kg ADM had raised the inhibition of S180 nodule from 50.93% to 77.19%.Results showed that polyprenols have a significant subsidiary effect on chemotherapy, along with reduced toxicity.
