Abstract: To establish an efficient method of extracting total flavonoids in the fruits of sea buckthorn(Hippophae rhamnoides L.), homogenated extraction was studied in comparing with reflux extraction. The optimum technology parameters are as follows:fruits (containing 85% water) of sea buckthorn have to be homogenated for 10 min with 85% ethanol at a ratio of liquid to solid of 5:1 (mL:g). Under the optimium condition, extraction yield of total flavonoids is 0.76% by homogenated extraction, which is equivalent to that of reflux extraction. However, homogenated extraction requires less extraction time and solvent, which is an efficient and rapid method for extracting total flavonoids from the fruits of sea buckthorn.
