Abstract: Dehydroabietylamine sodium salicylaldehyde-5-sulphonate Schiff base and its Sm3+,Eu3+ rare earth complexes were synthesized. They were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity and IR. The interaction of the complexes with salmon sperm DNA were investigated by UV spectra, viscosity analysis and fluorescence spectra, respectively. The experimental results show that the complexes bind to DNA by both partial intercalation and groove interaction.
