Abstract: Guaiacyl type dehydrogenation polymers(DHPs)were prepared from coniferin and coniferin (α-13C)by peroxidase, glucose oxidase and β glucosidase. The DHPs were analyzed by high resolution solid state carbon 13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR) spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy. The result of IR indicated that the chemical structure of DHP was in well agreement with MWL prepared from ginkgo wood.It was proved that β-O-4,β-β,β-5 and coniferyl alcohol structures were the main substructures in DHPs although there were some minor substructures such as vanillin and α methylene units according to the determination of CP/MAS 13C NMR spectra.

Key words: dehydrogenation polymer, lignin, 13C isotopic tracer, solid state 13C NMR spectroscopy
