Abstract: Taking the natural product oleic acid as the main material, the Gemini surfactant with a short spacer and oleyl chains was synthesized and its rheological property was explored. Wormlike micelles can be formed without addition of salt. The solution showed obvious visco-elastic properties. The zero-shear viscosity was firstly increased and then decreased with the increase of concentration. Because of the transformation of micellar structures, a maximum value of 8 022.7 mPa·s was reached at about 50 mmol/L.

Key words: oleyl chain, Gemini surfactant, visco-elasticity
