Characteristics and Research Progress of Quinone Pigments

Abstract

Abstract: Natural pigments have a few categories of quinone structure, which commonly include rubianic acid, gromwell pigment, alkanet color, jujube pigment, lac dye, carmine, et al. In this paper, characteristics of these quinone pigments are outlined, and progress of research on extraction and purification method of these pigments in recent years are overviewed.
