Abstract: Pyrolysis of soybean oils for the production of biofuels has been studied in a 60 L scale-up reactor. Under the reaction conditions of 450 ℃, reaction time 2 h and catalyst amount of 1.5 %, the yield of pyrolytic oil is up to 71.5 % with the acid number of 67 mg/g. The pyrolytic products were characterized by FT-IR and GC-MS. The results showed that it mainly consisted of alkane, alkene, alkone and carboxylic acids with the molecular distribution between C14-C22.

Key words: soybean oil, pyrolysis, basic catalyst
