Abstract: Chemical constituents of the stems of Canthium simile Merr. & Chur. were studied. Seven compounds were isolated from chloroform extract of the stem, and their structures were elucidated by various spectroscopic methods. They were identified as lupeol (Ⅰ), 3-β-acetyl oleanolic acid (Ⅱ), β-sitosterol(Ⅲ), 2,4-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethyl benzoate(Ⅳ), 2,6-dimethoxy-p-benzo quinine(Ⅴ), β-daucosterol(Ⅵ), vanillic acid(Ⅶ). All compounds were obtained from this genus of plant for the first time.
